I want to post this so people making bio's know what the staff likes - and dislikes. There are many thing's in this topic, so I cannot think of them all off-hand, so this board will be updated frequently.

We will start with what the staff doesn't like to see.
1) Being Chosen
There are many people in Krynn, probably hundreds of millions - which is why it is very unlikely your character will be hand picked for anything important. If you stumbled into whatever it is is one thing, but for someone to come to you, or spot you in a crowd is very unlikely and will immediately put a damper on your bio.
2) Magical Abilities
Unless you are a mage, chances are you do not know magic. Even just having your character know minor spells is unlikely - so if your having your character know magic, explain very well with great detail how you learned and how you became a mage, and the chances of you being able to perform great spells is very rare, and even if you could, it doesn't mean you can, because it takes much training from experienced magic users to officially learn the ability and use it full well.
3) Awesome Melee Skills
This is hard to discourage, as I can understand the want for your character to be the best, or at least be able to compete with the best, but I have to say, normal people don't have amazing battle skills, even those in the army, as it isn't used in daily life, so it isn't a practiced habit, and training with yourself will not get you to much skill as you cannot teach yourself what you do not know. Swords are the true problem in this field, as everyone wants to be great with the weapon, but being skilled with a bow is much more practical. If your character does not start with good skills in the melee area, he or she will learn from another member, so don't be afraid that your character will be weak for the whole rp.

Pretty much, if you do the opposite of what we don't like, we will like it, but there are some extras.
1) Homes!
Not all people are just travelers. I like when I see that someone left their home because they just wanted to travel, or they were bored of their hometown. It makes rping with the character less dramatic, but in turn, different, because your not some misunderstood nomad who has no money and is used to living on the streets - OR - having all your rich parent's money and wandering around doing whatever he or she wants.
2) No Importance
Not every person comes from an important family, and though most people like to play the tragic wanderer, those who do not go that route with their character tend to go with the 'I am very important, I come from a rich family and my father is a Lord.' Just make your character an average Joe, it isn't unpleasant to rp with him or her with no important past.
